Mine shaft is a location in Needles.

Background[edit | edit source]

Some pre-holocaust miner has hewn a tunnel into the living rock of the mountain. Now the smell tells you it is home for many desert creatures. Right at the entryway is an old shack made of weather beaten adobe with walls been baked by the sun to be harder then steel. The door is of rotting wood and rusting iron. Of course it is locked.

Overview[edit | edit source]

The Mine is the third or fourth location to be explored by the player. It is located west of the Rail Nomads, in the mountains, and consists of one level of underground caves. It is packed with furry enemies and a variety of small arms, explosives, grenades, and silver.

There is a locked strongbox in a corner of the shack containing some gas masks. The pit in the south-east corner of the shack contains a rope and a Rubble Fanger which attacks you immediately. After you have slain a group of Drools and picked up the loot you are always attacked by a group of Little People. There is a dead-end in the mine where you get the Message "The rock looks strange." Use the Metallurgy skill on this spot and then use a Pick ax to chip out a bit of silver (Which is collected in form of money). You can repeat this as often as you wish (Use a macro to automate the key presses) and earn lots of money. You can search the half-eaten remains of what might have been a human with the Perception skill to get some loot.
