Bobby, one of the mutant urchins living at Highpool, realized that his dog, Rex, has recently contracted rabies. Unwilling to see him shot, he hid him in the cave beneath Highpool Creek, hoping for him to get better. Unfortunately, Bobby's friend, Jackie, recently decided to investigate the cave, getting lost there...
Walkthrough[ | ]
- Bobby is in the south-west corner and can tell you about Jackie and the Cave. Before running away, he will ask the Rangers not to kill his dog. The cave can be found at the western wall of the camp between two trees. You have to use the Perception skill on the spot to recognize the cave entry. Then you can use a rope to climb down.
- Kill the Rabid Dog, Rex, and rescue Jackie, who will become the party's first NPC. Before climbing the first heap of boulders, you can shed some light by using a Match on any of the squares that yield the message "Even here the cave is very dark"; this will have the effect of replacing the Rabid Dog with a weaker Spiked Mut.
- Picking up the jewelry that Rex drops will cause Bobby to spawn and attack the Rangers in the northern part of Highpool. Since Bobby remains immobile, it's possible to just move past him and leave Highpool without gunning down a mutant juvie.
