I have cleaned up the interwiki link table to remove a lot of Wikia leftovers, and also converted internal links which were formatted as external ones to proper syntax (i.e. [http://wasteland.falloutwiki.com/<page>]
was turned into [[<page>]]
etc).
In total, I have removed about 400 unused interwiki prefixes. Most of these are inconsequential to editors since they weren't used anyway; however, there has been one change which is worth mentioning. The prefix "w:" is usually assigned to Wikipedia, but on Wikia sites it leads to Wikia instead. I have reset this to the default; i.e. "w:" is now a prefix for Wikipedia here.
In consequence, linking to Wikia sites has changed slightly (again, to make it consistent with MediaWiki standards). Previously you'd do something like [[w:c:<site>:<page>]]
to link to a page on a Wikia site; now that is achieved by using [[wikia:<site>:<page>]]
instead. For example, to link to my user page on Nukapedia you'd use [[wikia:fallout:User:Porter21]]
.
Just a heads-up. -- Porter21 (talk) 11:28, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
Update 19 July 2012[]
There have been a few changes to the interwiki setup today; the fallout:
interwiki prefix was causing some issues on the fanon wiki, hence I've changed it globally across our little family of sites.
I.e. today's changes to the interwiki table are:
fallout:
(leading to http://www.falloutwiki.com) has been renamed tofalloutwiki:
falloutfanonwiki:
(leading to http://fanon.falloutwiki.com) has been added
Similarly, wastelandwiki:
can be used on the other two wikis to link back to this one. -- Porter21 (talk) 13:18, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
