Staff Sergeant Gilbert Thrasher Sagarra is one the 4 starting party members in Wasteland.

Wasteland[ | ]

Born in 2041 on November 8th, A bona fide giant among Rangers, the 6'6 (2 cm shy of two meters), Thrasher has been Snake Vargas' strongest and most powerful team mate by far. He preferred melee combat by far, the kind of man who brought fists to a knife fight and knives to a gun fight. He was part of Ranger Team Alpha that invaded Base Cochise and paid dearly for it: He was severely wounded and eventually lost his leg despite treatment. Still, he considers it a bargain, since otherwise he would've been dead before thirty.

He survived, however, but could no longer participate in field operations. Instead, he devoted himself to his love: Cartography, becoming the Ranger's map specialist. He takes life easy and indulges in its many pleasures. He is typically found in the Ranger Citadel, near the museum, where he takes care of the many maps in the Ranger archives (and complains whenever the Rail Nomads force him to update them).

Despite the loss of his leg, Thrasher is still ambulatory: A doctor named Kyle provided him with an advanced prosthesis, powered by a fuel cell implanted in his chest. Coupled with the bathrobe and cigar, Thrasher might appear soft to fresh recruits... Until they realize that beneath the fat is a still powerful body, powering fists capable of teaching any rookie a lesson or two in respecting their elders.

In Team Echo's final confrontation with the Cochise AI, the AI made an attack on the Citadel, with Thrasher as one of the casualties.[1]

  1. No Way Home p.21: "Pete sat down on a nearby chair. “That’s a relief, frankly, cause I, uh… I have to tell you one more thing. It’s about what happened to Rose, who was a damn fine woman and a dead eye with a pistol. And a Ranger named Thrasher, though I didn’t see that myself. The general told me about it. Rose, though…” Pete shook his head. “I saw what Matthias and that AI did to Rose.”
When he was done telling the story, Angela wiped her eyes. “Thrasher was a good man,” she told him, her voice soft and very sad. “He was another one from my very first Ranger team: me, him, Vargas, and Hell Razor. And Ace, later on. I guess I’m the only one left.”"
