Salt is a member of a small raider crew calling itself the Coyotes. When the Rangers encounter them, they are busy posing as Church Police and trying to scam people into paying protection money.

If encountered without Brother Shapiro, Salt will demand that the Rangers pay a toll to pass. Paying allows for hassle-free passage through them without having to go through gila monitors securing the other route. The Rangers can also report Salt and his crew to Brother Franks, who will have them killed for impersonating the Monks. The Rangers can go back to loot their corpses.
If encountered with Shapiro in tow, Salt will be non-plussed and will tell the Rangers to move on.
